Serving Seniors

Cicero District 99 is proud to serve our senior citizens year-round through joyful, heartfelt events that honor their legacy and build meaningful connections across generations. In partnership with Town President Larry Dominick and the Board of Trustees, we host seasonal celebrations like Easter brunch, Halloween breakfasts, and festive holiday meals—complete with student volunteers dressed as Santa’s elves! Seniors enjoy more than just meals: we’ve treated them to spa-style pampering, including free haircuts and nail care on Mother’s and Father’s Day. Our incredible Unity Junior High students show up every time, serving with respect, laughter, and love. Whether it’s bingo, BBQ, or a simple shared smile, these moments remind us that community means showing up, lifting up, and giving back. We lead with kindness, honor every generation, and celebrate those who helped build Cicero. Our seniors deserve nothing less.

Keeping Cicero Clean!

Every spring, Cicero District 99 proudly joins forces with Town of Cicero President Larry Dominick and the Board of Trustees for the annual Town-Wide Spring Clean-Up Day—and we show up in full force! Hundreds of our amazing students, staff, and families rise early, gear up with gloves and garbage bags, and hit the streets to make our town shine. From sidewalks and schoolyards to parks and public spaces, our volunteers unite with one shared mission: to give back to the community we call home. But this day is about more than just picking up litter. It’s about demonstrating pride, teaching responsibility, and modeling what it means to care for the place we live. Because when we all pitch in—no matter how small the act—we help make Cicero a cleaner, stronger, and brighter place for everyone.

Feeding Families

Cicero District 99 is committed to nourishing not just minds, but also the lives of those we serve. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we partnered with the Greater Chicago Food Depository to host multiple food distribution events each month—providing essential meals to thousands of families when they needed it most. That spirit of service continues today. We proudly partner with generous companies like Sargento Cheese and Kraft Heinz, who donate food products that we distribute for free to our community. These events are about more than just groceries—they’re about dignity, hope, and neighbors helping neighbors. Whether during crisis or calm, Cicero District 99 remains dedicated to fighting hunger and feeding our community with compassion, partnership, and purpose.

Protecting Our Environment

Cicero District 99 is proud to help grow a greener future—one tree at a time! Through powerful partnerships with Town President Larry Dominick, the Board of Trustees, and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, we've hosted wildly successful tree giveaway events that put hundreds of trees into the hands of local families. Rain or shine, our community shows up—especially our students, whose excitement to plant and protect the planet is truly inspiring. These trees do more than beautify—they clean our air, cool our neighborhoods, reduce flooding, and bring people together. From Arbor Day celebrations to year-round efforts, we're committed to environmental education and sustainability. Every sapling planted is an investment in cleaner air, stronger ecosystems, and a brighter tomorrow. Cicero District 99 believes in empowering students and families to be stewards of the earth—because when we plant together, we grow together.

Disaster Relief

When disaster strikes, D99 stands ready to help those in need. Whether it’s a national hurricane or a local flood, our district unites to collect and distribute vital supplies for victims, including pet food, baby essentials, personal hygiene products, first aid kits, trash bags, and canned goods. We believe generosity makes our community stronger, and our commitment to service is more than words—it’s action. In July 2023, Cicero experienced unprecedented flooding, with some buildings submerged under 3.5 feet of water and schools forced to close. In response, our community rallied together, demonstrating resilience and compassion at every turn. With the leadership of Board President Tom Tomschin & Town President Larry Dominick, Cicero secured $96 million in federal funding to address flood damage and prevention. This effort reflects our shared mission: to care for our neighbors in times of crisis, to stand shoulder to shoulder in recovery, and to ensure no one faces disaster alone!
