New Staff Orientation
Cicero District 99 welcomes our newest educators with a week-long launch into all things D99 — connection, learning, laughter, and inspiration. From tech integration and multilingual education to classroom management and curriculum deep-dives, our team gains tools, meets leaders, and explores the heart of our community on a bus tour. They also join our mentoring program, because here, no one does it alone. Every year, D99 graduates return to teach where they one learned, and new educators from Spain, Puerto Rico, and beyond choose Cicero as their home. Their presence shows the strength, vision, and spirit that define our district. Orientation isn't just training — it's belonging. It's where culture takes root, relationships begin, and great teaching is built on great support. To our new staff: you are valued, you are seen, and you're already making D99 strong. Golden Apple
Golden Apple's mission is to prepare, honor and support great educators who advance educational opportunities for students in Illinois. With the growing shortage of educators in Illinois, it is critical to elevate recognition of the immense value of excellent teachers and the importance of the teaching profession. The organization hopes to inspire others to become future teachers for the students of Illinois by using this award to raise awareness.
Cicero District 99 has partnered with Golden Apple, an organization that values diversity and highly effective teaching — understanding that the combination of the two allows our students to learn, grow, and reach their full potential. There model is a long-term solution to recruiting talented teachers who stay.
This partnership gives us access to resumes of new and veteran teachers who are seeking employment throughout the state, preferred access to the Golden Apple job board which is only available to Golden Apple Scholars and alumni, and scholar placement services.
