🏀 UNITY TIGERS WRAP UP GIRLS BASKETBALL SEASON WITH HARD WORK, DETERMINATION, AND PROMISE POTENTIAL! 🐯

Another season of girls basketball is officially in the books at Unity Junior High School, as the seventh-grade junior varsity and eighth-grade varsity Tigers recently concluded their campaigns in the conference tournament hosted right here at home!

Under the guidance of Coaches Deisy Mena and Issel Gomez, our student-athletes spent the season developing their basketball skills, gaining valuable game experience, and representing Unity Junior High School and Cicero District 99 on the court.

The seventh-grade Tigers put together a competitive campaign, finishing with a 6-6 overall record and fifth place in the conference standings!

Their season continued into the conference tournament, where Unity opened postseason play with a victory over Heritage Middle School in Berwyn before falling to Heritage Middle School in Summit in the second round.

With several promising young players gaining experience at the junior high level, the seventh-grade squad has plenty to build on heading into next season. The foundation is there, and the opportunity to continue improving and competing at a higher level makes the future of Unity girls basketball an exciting one!

The eighth-grade Tigers finished ninth in the conference standings before concluding their season against Northlake in the opening round of the conference tournament.

While the varsity squad faced its share of tough competition throughout the season, every practice and game provided opportunities to develop skills, strengthen teamwork, and gain experience competing against other schools.

For our eighth graders, the conclusion of the season also marks the end of their Unity Junior High basketball careers as they prepare to take the next step into high school. The experience they've gained and the lessons they've learned will serve them well as they continue their academic and athletic journeys.

A special thank-you to Coaches Deisy Mena and Issel Gomez for their leadership, dedication, and commitment to helping our student-athletes grow throughout the season!

At Cicero District 99, athletics are an important extension of the classroom, providing students with opportunities to develop discipline, teamwork, perseverance, leadership, and confidence. Whether celebrating a victory or learning from a difficult game, these experiences help prepare our students for challenges and opportunities well beyond the basketball court.

Congratulations to all of our Unity Junior High girls basketball players and coaches on another completed season! We look forward to seeing our returning athletes continue to develop their talents and wish our eighth graders continued success as they move on to the next chapter!

Great work, Tigers! The future is built one practice, one game, and one season at a time! 🧡🖤
