District statement on community well-being

Posted Date: 10/08/25 (4:00 PM)

Dear Cicero District 99 Families and Staff,

As part of our overall mission, Cicero District 99 would like to reiterate our continued commitment to the well-being of all students and staff, and serves as a beacon of safety, education, and resources for all families, regardless of gender, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, immigration status and other protected classes. Cicero District 99 board policy provides all children access to a free, public education.

Cicero District 99 reminds families, staff and the community on how it will continue to support ALL students and families in schools, based on State, Federal and local laws:

  • Per federal law, Cicero District 99 never asks for a student or their family’s immigration status when the child is enrolled in school

  • The immigration status of a child will never impact the quality of the education they will receive in Cicero District 99

  • Cicero District 99 will never share student records without a court order or consent from a parent/guardian

  • All immigration enforcement personnel, including local authorities and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), are required to have a judicial warrant or lawful warrant signed by a judge before accessing any Cicero District 99 facility

The District remains committed to its policies of equal opportunity and nondiscrimination as outlined by the Board of Education, and ensures families that all educators and administrators will continue to provide ALL children with access to a supportive, professional and safe learning environment.

The District is committed to supporting ALL students and families, including those who may be navigating unique circumstances and legal challenges, including concerns related to immigration status. For any students and families who may be experiencing concerns or trauma on any issues, the District always encourages them to seek support from the District’s team of social workers, psychologists and counselors.
