Dear Cicero District 99 Community,
The District would like to inform all staff, families and community members of the decision to close the Burnham at McKinley school site effective at the end of the 2025-2026 school year.
For community transparency, below is a copy of the communication the District has shared with the families and staff at Burnham.
Thank you for your understanding as the District and Burnham navigate the changes ahead.
Sincerely,
Dr. Aldo Calderin
Superintendent
Cicero District 99
Dear Families of Burnham at McKinley School,
We are writing to inform you that at the end of the 2025-2026 school year, the Burnham at McKinley site will be closing and not reopen for the 2026-2027 school year.
Due to trending decreases in student enrollment across Cicero District 99, the District has the capacity to absorb Burnham students and staff into neighboring school buildings. After careful consideration, the District believes that now is the most appropriate time to make this transition. Decisions like this are not taken lightly, and the District understands the challenges and concerns this change may create for some of our families.
In the coming weeks, additional communication will be shared with Burnham families regarding which school building your child will attend for the upcoming school year.
Please be assured that the District is committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for students and families. Our dedication to providing a high-quality educational experience for all students remains unwavering, and this move will not compromise that commitment.
We sincerely thank you for your continued support, dedication and involvement with the Burnham at McKinley school community.
