😄 THE LAND OF SMILES: DELTA DENTAL TURNED DENTAL HEALTH INTO AN EXPERIENCE WILSON ELEMENTARY WILL NEVER FORGET 🦷

Posted Date: 02/09/26 (11:06 AM)

Wilson had the privilege of hosting the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation's Land of Smiles program — a free, interactive theatrical performance designed to teach kids (and yes, adults too!) the importance of dental health in the most fun way possible.

From the moment Captain Super Grin, Terri Tooth Fairy, and Toothpick burst onto the stage — followed closely by the mischievous Caz Cavity — laughter, learning, and lightbulb moments filled the room.

But this wasn't just a show. It was a life-changing experience that turned everyday dental advice into adventure and excitement. Kids learned how to brush and floss the right way, what foods help or hurt their teeth, and why regular dentist visits matter — all delivered with energy that had even the adults chuckling and whispering, "I need to step up my own dental game!"

Why does this matter?

Tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease, and in Illinois, more than half of third graders have already had a cavity. Programs like Land of Smiles are essential because they meet kids right where they are — with joy, creativity, and solid health education.

The Land of Smiles program isn't a one-off — it's a statewide effort that has reached hundreds of thousands of Illinois students over the years, teaching healthy habits that last a lifetime.

And here's the best part: every student walked always with tools to succeed — literally! Each got a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and easy-to-follow bilingual tips so both kids and families can keep those smiles shining every single day.

Huge thanks to Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation — the charitable arm of one of the nation's largest dental insurance networks — for bringing this engaging, educational performance to Cicero District 99 and helping make dental health something kids understand and care about.

If this post made you smile, learned you something new, or reminded you it's time to floss — help us spread the message that good dental health is cool, important, and something we can all celebrate together!
