At Cicero District 99, love looks a little different through little eyes — and this week, we were lucky enough to witness it firsthand.

Parents sat side-by-side with their children, helping big feelings turn into tiny words as students created Valentine messages for their favorite staff members. These weren’t just cards. They were hugs in paper form. They were giggles, gratitude, and unconditional love written in crayon, marker, and magic.

Some of our students can’t always say thank you. Some can’t always explain when they’re happy, sorry, or excited. But they can smile. They can laugh. They can hug. And this week, they reminded us that love doesn’t need perfect words — it just needs a caring heart.

Valentine’s Day here isn’t about candy or cards. It’s about connection. It’s about tiny hands holding crayons, big emotions finding their way onto paper, and students sharing love in the purest way they know how.

Each message is a beautiful reminder that love doesn’t have to be fancy. It can be a smile. It can be a laugh. It can be a hug. It can be a few honest words from a child who simply wants their teacher to know they matter.
