Today, Cicero District 99 proudly honors the incredible men and women who serve as our school security guards — the everyday heroes who help make our buildings safe, welcoming, and supportive places to learn. 

From the moment the doors open each morning until the last student heads home, they are there. Greeting students with a smile. Watching hallways. Checking entrances. Offering guidance. Stepping in during difficult moments. Celebrating student successes. And standing ready whenever they're needed. 

But their work goes far beyond safety. 

They build relationships. They listen when students need someone to talk to. They calm fears. They prevent problems before they start. They protect not just our schools — but our peace of mind. 

They know our students by name. They notice when something feels off. They show compassion on hard days and strength in critical moments. They are mentors, role models, problem-solvers, and guardians all rolled into one.
