We Move Forward Together!

🚍 IT'S NATIONAL SCHOOL BUS DRIVER APPRECIATION DAY 🚍

Posted Date: 02/22/26 (12:00 PM)

Today, we pause to celebrate some of the true everyday heroes of our community. Cicero District 99 proudly honors the incredible men and women who do so much more than simply drive a bus.

Before most of us have had our first cup of coffee, they're already on the road — greeting sleepy students with warm smiles, navigating busy streets, and making sure every child arrives safely to school. They remember names. They notice moods. They offer encouragement, patience, and sometimes the very first kind word a student hears all day.

Being a school bus driver means being a protector, a role model, a steady presence, and often an unsung source of comfort. Rain or shine. Cold mornings and early starts. Long afternoons and careful drop-offs. Day after day, they carry what matters most — our children — with professionalism, compassion, and heart.

And fittingly, February is Love the Bus Month — a reminder that what they do deserves more than a quick thank-you. It deserves real appreciation.

To our bus drivers: you don't just transport students. You help shape their days. You create safe spaces on wheels. You build trust, routines, and connections that matter more than you'll ever know.

So today, and every day, we say thank you. Thank you for your dedication. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for showing up — even when it's hard.

Our schools run because of you. Our families rely on you. And our community is better because of you.

💛 We truly love our bus drivers — and we are so grateful for every mile you travel on behalf of our kids.
