🗣️ TO THE ONES WHO HELP OUR STUDENTS FIND THEIR VOICES... HAPPY SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST DAY! 💙
Today, we celebrate some of the most impactful people in education — our incredible Speech-Language Pathologists!
At Cicero District 99, our SLPs do so much more than help students pronounce words correctly. They help children FIND their voices.
Every single day, our Speech-Language Pathologists work tirelessly behind the scenes and in classrooms helping students communicate, connect, learn, grow, and thrive. They support students with speech sounds, language development, social communication, fluency, comprehension, confidence, and even feeding and swallowing needs. They collaborate with teachers, families, psychologists, social workers, and support staff to remove barriers that can impact a child's success — academically, socially, and emotionally.
For many students, an SLP is the person who helps them say their first clear sentence... The person who helps them make their first friend... The person who gives them the confidence to raise their hand in class... The person who reminds them: "Your voice matters."
And that work changes lives.
What many people don't realize is that communication impacts EVERYTHING. Reading. Writing. Learning. Relationships. Self-esteem. Mental health. Future opportunities. When a child struggles to communicate, it can affect every part of their world. Our SLPs step in with presence, compassion, expertise, and heart — helping students unlock possibilities they may have never thought were within reach.
To our amazing SLPS: Thank you for every small victory you celebrate. Thank you for every frustrated child your encourage. Thank your for every moment of patience, creativity, advocacy, and love you pour into your work. Thank you for helping our students be heard.
You are not just specialists. You are confidence-builders. Connection-creators. Life-changers.
Today and every day, we are grateful for you!
