Community Shred Day Hosted By Lisa Hernandez

What's sitting in your filing cabinet? Old bank statements? Tax returns? Outdated medical records? Credit card applications? Bills and receipts with personal information?

Most of us have a stack somewhere — documents we know we shouldn't just throw in the garbage, but somehow never get around to destroying.

Now is your chance to take care of it.

State Representative Elizabeth "Lisa" Hernandez is hosting a SHRED DAY where you can bring documents containing personal and sensitive information to be safely shredded.

📅 Saturday, Sept. 26
⏰ 9 A.M. until NOON
📍 Lyons Public Library | 4209 Joliet Ave. Lyons, IL 60534

Identity theft doesn't always begin with some sophisticated computer hack. Sometimes the information someone needs is sitting on a piece of paper that was casually tossed away.

So take a few minutes and look through those drawers, folders, boxes and filing cabinets.

If it contains information you wouldn't want falling into someone else's hands, this is a great opportunity to dispose of it securely.

This event is for RESIDENTIAL SHREDDING ONLY, not commercial shredding. Please remove paper clips, staples and other bindings beforehand. Cardboard boxes cannot be left at the event, and shredding will be accepted until the shred trucks reach capacity. Don't wait until the final few minutes if you can avoid it.

Even if you don't have anything to shred, there's a good chance someone you know does. Think about a senior citizen with years of old paperwork. A neighbor cleaning out a basement. A friend with boxes of financial records they keep saying they're going to deal with "eventually." Send this post to them!

A simple share could be the reason someone finally gets years of sensitive paperwork out of their home and safely destroyed. Start making that shred pile now!
