❤️ STAYIN' ALIVE! CICERO'S NEWEST LIFESAVERS: 150 PARENT PATROL MEMBERS TO EARN CPR CERTIFICATION! 🫀
For nearly two decades, Cicero Parent Patrol volunteers have dedicated their time to helping keep our students safe. From monitoring school neighborhoods and assisting local law enforcement to supporting schools and district events, these incredible volunteers are always looking out for our children.
Now, they're taking school safety to a whole new level — by learning how to save lives!
Approximately 150 Parent Patrol volunteers are on track to complete a three-hour CPR and emergency response certification course at the Cicero Fire Department, gaining lifesaving skills that could make all the difference when every second counts.
Through hands-on training, volunteers learned how to perform CPR on adults and children, deliver chest compressions and rescue breaths, respond to choking emergencies, recognize cardiac arrest, and properly operate automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
Did you know? According to the American Heart Association, immediate CPR can double or even triple a person's chances of surviving cardiac arrest. That's why having more trained individuals in our schools and neighborhoods is so important!
This incredible opportunity was provided completely FREE thanks to Town of Cicero President Larry Dominick and the Board of Trustees. Special thanks to the Cicero Fire Department and Cicero Health Department for providing the professional instruction and helping our volunteers earn their American Heart Association CPR/AED certifications.
Most importantly, THANK YOU to our Parent Patrol volunteers! These dedicated community members already give their time without compensation to help protect our students, and now they're even better prepared to assist children, staff, families, and neighbors during emergencies.
Because sometimes protecting a child means helping them cross the street safely. And sometimes it means knowing how to save a life. 👏
